My Favourite......Book Character



My Favorite.. is a weekly meme hosted by Maureen’s Books. In this meme we share every week something we love with each other. Because let’s face it.. The world can be a dark place and it’s time to share something positive. For more info: My Favorite Meme.

 Picking a favourite book character is like picking a favourite child.  It's not really possible,  I love them all so much.  However, when I first read this the first character to pop into my mind was Cara, from the Sword of Truth series.  I love the Mordsith, they have been through hell and back and they find the inner strength to keep going, that's powerful.

 Cara comes  out as a favourite above the other Mordsith probably just because she is more prominent in the series but they all hold a special place in my heart as the character type resonates strongly.  

 What is your favourite book character?

    Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter books is probably one of my favourites. She's smart, she's totally un-self-conscious, she cares deeply about other people (even when they don't seem to care for her a great deal). She's the hero I needed when I was younger.

    I never read the Sword of Truth series, so I don't really know that character. But I'm definitely curious about her now! :D
    For me, Hermoine Granger is definitely my favorite. I just love everything about her.

    That's a tough one! People ask what my own favorite character is in my books and I love them all. It definitely is like picking a favorite child!

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
