One Million Steps July 1st Update

My first day out and trying to achieve I only made it 25,268 steps which is 6,991 short of my daily goal and it was a really active day.  That makes me a little concerned for how this challenge is going to go.

I am also worried about the fact that my Fitbit battery seems to be on the fritz, just charged it and now it is dead again.  Will have to keep a really good eye on it.  Will try to post some pictures of where my steps are on my next update.

    Uh-oh. That happened with my Jawbone Up, which was why I switched to Fitbit. Have you checked to make sure it wasn't your charger? It might be worthwhile to order another charger and see if that doesn't fix it...

      I never thought about replacing the charger. I will look into replacing that as it will be much cheaper. ;)

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
