A To Z Challenge 2016: E



Have you seen anyone with a good theme yet?  Personally I am in love with my theme even though I am getting a little over the reading.


Yes, everybody loves Valentines! From mothers to sisters, brothers, fathers and grandparents to friends to making new friends, Valentines are the perfect way to say you care. This book is filled with charming illustrations of Valentines in many forms. Its sweet message of love and friendship, all in rhyme, is appropriate for everyday as well as Valentine’s Day.

 Ok, today was my cheat day and I read a kid's book, not even to my kid, just on my own.  It's a sweet fun book full of lot's of love.  A great read which I think I may read again to Cat.

    Sounds like a fun read, Melissa. I love to read kids books. It frees the mind, especially after having read something heavy.

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
