Express Yourself: Body Switching


The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted Bouquet Of Books and Entertaining Interests.  This week's topic is: If you could switch bodies with someone for 24 hours (like in Freaky Friday) who would you switch with and why?

If I could switch bodies with anybody for a day it would be my son, he gets bullied a lot at school and is too afraid to stand up for himself. I would like to stand up to his bullies just once. No violence just a little pointing out that how they behave is not cool.

Also, I would tell the teacher what's going on because if he did that I wouldn't have to spend so much time on the phone explaining why he doesn't do that.

    It can be difficult for a child to let the teacher know about bullies because as soon as the teacher's back is turned, the bullies become worse. Or the teacher says, "Just ignore them." Ignoring bullies doesn't work.

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
