Post A to Z Road Trip



As usual I finished the A to Z Challenge with more than a few blogs left to visit so it's time for the annual cruise through summer and visiting the rest of those blogs.

I am planning on taking it easy this year, I always try to be super ambitious and do everything and want to post about my favourite things that I find and I never do because life is busy and I am always doing a thousand things.  So this year I am just going to visit new blogs from the list when I can and not stress about anything else.

If I find something super fantastic I will share it with you guys, but I am not stressing about it.

    I think that's the best approach to the Road Trip. I usually start strong and then fizzle out, only to be reminded of it when someone comments that they're visiting me through the Road Trip which might spur me on to visit another handful of blogs.

    I'm still getting caught up on blog posts I missed during the A to Z Challenge, and then I like to look through the Reflections list to catch up on some of the themes I missed. Then I'll join on the Road Trip. Like you, I'm not stressing it, it's all just a bit of fun at the end of the day. :-)

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
