Express Yourself:


The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted Bouquet Of Books and Entertaining Interests.  This week's topic is: Tell us something you haven't tried yet but would like to. ( this is actually from the beginning of the month, I am playing catch up)

One thing I have never tried but I would really like to is cross stitch (lame I know) but it's something I have always wanted to have a go at.  Ace even bought me some easy kits for Christmas last year but I just haven't been able to make the time.

It's on my project list, you know after finishing those Cosplay's I have going for Fan Expo and moving and all that jazz.

    Good luck with learning to cross stitch. I was taught years ago but only really picked it back up again last year. It's really relaxing and pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Plus you can get some great geeky patterns online, it's not all baskets of flowers any more. ;-)

    I love to cross stitch. People often tell me they don't know how I have the patience for it. Au contraire, I say. It relaxes me.

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
