Celebrate The Small Things: November 7, 2014


It's time again for the Celebrate the Small Things blog hop hosted by Scribblings of an Aspiring Author.  It's a chance to look back over the week and remember the things big and small that made it a little brighter.

This week started off pretty rough for me and I was feeling rather lousy leading into Wednesday afternoon when it picked up a great deal.  I got some really good news at work that made things a lot more positive looking for the next few weeks.  Yay!

Then Thursday morning dawned bright and clear and made my week.  I didn't mention it here yet because we were still in the process of telling people but a few weeks ago Mike and I got engaged.


Yesterday though I made my first steps in planning my wedding which made me very excited.  Pretty much through the moon actually.  Yay!

    Improvement at work is always welcome - good for you! Love the ring and glad to hear the engagement is set in stone!

    Banned complain !! Complaining only causes life and mind become more severe. Enjoy the rhythm of the problems faced. No matter ga life, not a problem not learn, so enjoy it :)

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
