Express Yourself: Scariest Movie/Book


The Express Yourself Weekly Meme is hosted Bouquet Of Books and Entertaining Interests.  This week's topic is: what is the scariest movie/book you've watched/read?

Arachnophobia is hands down the scariest movie I have ever seen.  All those spiders, just thinking about it now makes me squirm.  I scene full of spiders in any movie will make me turn my head away in any film.  Most other things I can handle but spiders turn me into a big baby.  Well,  spider and centipedes.

The scariest book I have read at this point in my reading journey has probably been Pet Cemetery by Stephen King if we are going on pure creepy factor.  If we are going to go with giving one nightmares and not being able to get it out of your head I have to say A Clash of Kings by George R R Martin did it for me.

Making Mac and Cheese

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
