The Scarf (Part Two)

Okay, so I knew that this project was going to take a long time, but I really thought for some reason that I would have it done by the middle of February.  <insert hysterical fit of laughter here>  Yeah right.

To begin with it is done all in single crochet 65 stitches across and 822 rows, 142 of which I have completed so far.  It is very monotonous and that makes it really hard for me to stay focused on.  I seem to have the attention span of a two year old who has been feed a bag of chocolate covered espresso beans.  (I would never do that nor do I condone it)

I love this scarf, it is beautiful and I want to finish it.  Hell, I already want to make another one.  But...I also have a huge list of notes about what I am going to do differently next time to hopefully make it go a little quicker.  Assuming I finishing this one.  <nervous laugh>

Which I will...eventually, I am just hoping it's not in June or something.  I mean that would work cause then it could be a birthday present.  Except who needs a scarf in June?  Even a super awesome Doctor Who scarf. 

The revised plan is to (hopefully) have it finished sometime in the middle of March.  I am thinking that the kids and I will have a Doctor Who marathon this weekend and I will work on it while watching my favorite episodes.

One of my favorite vegetables is butternut squash so when Chatelaine  posted this yummy looking recipe  for mac and cheese brimming with squash I immediately pinned it to make at a later time.  Now, before Pinterest  I am willing to admit, recipes got saved in my e-mail, but they never got made.  They just got lost in the shuffle; now they get neatly organized and displayed where I can go through them on a regular basis.  More importantly than that I can try them.   This recipe worked out well for me, I thought the cheese and squash tasted great together, the kids however did not agree.  They like their squash on the side, where they can control how much they ingest.  Next time I will definitely use less breadcrumbs though.

Spooktacular Giveaway Hop

When I was much younger than I am now, I loved nothing more that a good "spooky" story.  I spent many nights laying up in bed reading books that were designed to make your skin crawl and leave you with goose bumps. My personal favourite author for Young Adult Thrillers was and probably still is Christopher Pike.  Twenty years after reading his books some of them still stand out in my mind in perfect clarity.  The top one would be Remember Me. Something about Shari's story struck a chord with me that has echoed through the last twenty years, as any good book should I suppose. Sadly when I was a teenager I didn't hold on to as many books as I do now so I spend a lot of time hunting to replace the ones I really wish I had kept. (Sweet Valley High anyone?)
